Ramon and Nell met at a corn shucking in her community of Connelly Springs, NC. Ramon was invited to go to the party by a friend in Casar and decided to ride along and see what it was about. He met the lovely Nell and the rest is history.
Nell's mother was protective of her daughter and skeptical of the young man from Cleveland County. Ramon's fascination for watches paid off. He gave a watch to Mrs. Neno Taylor and the gesture was appreciated. She really "took a liking" to him. Ramon's collection includes dating pictures from the early 1940s and many subsequent family events.
